Imagine being in a city that is overrun with people infected by a disease that turns them into zombies. Sounds familiar, right? The difference is that you have to run for your life as you go and try to complete your mission of stopping Suleiman, a rogue agent of the Global Relief Effort. As Kyle Crane, you will have to use available weapons that you find and create to hack through zombies and other opponents. The main story of Dying Light revolves around your character Kyle Crane, after parachuting into Harran, a city that is infested with various types of zombies.
Once you land, you are bitten, but saved by one of the survivors that inject you with a serum that prevents the effects of the virus that causes its victims to become zombie-like creatures. This causes a conflict with Kyle as he now has to choose between his newfound allies and his mission objectives. Dying Light is filled with plenty of side-quest and challenges, maybe too many, and will keep you running around Harran for quite some time. The open-world sandbox has a high entertainment value thanks to the free running mechanics the game provides.
Obviously, when you start off, your skills are limited. However, as you progress, you will level up fairly quickly and can unlock new abilities which allow you to perform even more exciting parkour moves and using more powerful weapons. Speaking of weapons, you can improve you weapons with parts and materials you find throughout the city, making them even more powerful and durable.
The zombies you encounter during the day are easy enough to take on for the most part. When the night comes however, much more challenging creatures appear and take the difficulty to a point where the game is almost no longer fun to play. Dying light is a great game overall. Even with the excessively challenging night creatures and so-so story line, the graphics, audio and sensations you will feel when you are leaping from rooftop to rooftop more than make up for it.
New horrors await you as the sun goes down.
