Facebook chat is one of many instant messenger apps available out there, and while they are nothing new, Facebook Chat DeskTop does offer something different to its more well-known Facebook chat sibling. Facebook chat gives you instant access to all your existing friends, as well as enables you to make new friends with little effort. The added benefit of the DeskTop version is that you don’t have to be online with Facebook to use it. By installing the app, and entering your Facebook username and password you can have chat open, and Facebook closed; great if you need to keep in touch in places that frown upon Facebook usage – such as work. As while using chat in Facebook you can see whether your friends are online and chat singularly or in a group, but now you can do so from most versions of Microsoft Windows with no other distractions.
